Somewhere to stay away from the hustle, bustle and noise of a big city (which lets face it can keep you awake at night!) - but close (3km to city centre) to all Auckland has to offer? Somewhere comfortable, clean, with style and atmosphere?

Oaklands Lodge may be exactly what you are looking for. We are a small owner-operated hostel in a quiet, (no through traffic), tree lined street on the slopes of Mt. Eden offering affordable accommodation for independent travellers. You will find us great value for your money as well as having a great time.

We are 3.5 km from downtown and 16km from the airport.

From the City take Customs Street East Buses 274, 275 & 277 to Mt Eden Village shops. We are in the street just behind the ASB Bank. This trip will cost you $1.20 .

Services:

The Lodge is a large two storied house built in the late Victorian era. It has has been recently renovated and includes a large kitchen, separate dining room/games room, TV lounge (with Sky TV) as well as a garden BBQ area and smoking room in the garden.

In our games room you can play games or music or just chat. If you just want to relax, we have a reading room, you can watch Sky TV or sit out in the garden. You\'ll never be far from friends and family with STD phones, a fax service and the Internet available for sending and receiving Email.

Our office is open from 8.30am -1.00pm and 4.00pm to 8.30pm. The telephone is answered from 8.00am-10.00pm and we may be able to accommodate arrivals outside these times if you let us know when you making the booking. Our normal check in time is 12.00 noon but if you are arriving earlier than that we will do our best to have your room ready as quickly as possible.

Area:

Mt Eden is a very special part of Auckland. It is full of character homes, fun shops, cafes, restaurants and local people. Many of Auckland\'s finest artists, actors, musicians and writers choose to live here creating a friendly community spirit and a slightly bohemian atmosphere.

Eden Park, home of the Auckland Blues rugby team, is also walking distance. There\'s heaps of things to do close by. You can take a stroll up Mt Eden and experience some of the magnificent views of the city, harbours and their thousands of sails or chill out in the many cafes, restaurants and bars.

Or if you are feeling energetic there are many walks and cycling tracks and a heated swimming pool a short walk away. A short bus ride will take you to a rocknasium, or downtown Auckland. If you have a car the choices are endless. Whatever you want to do Mt Eden has a whole heap to keep you happy.
