Hostel description:

Bamber House offers you a range of accommodation choices in a huge colonial home set in spacious grounds on the slopes of Mt Eden. We are a small, family run business and we will do our best to make you feel welcome.

You can choose from single, double & twin rooms (standard or economy) or shared rooms with 3-6 people in them. The standard rooms have mainly queen size beds are upstairs inside the house while the economy rooms are downstairs or in cabins at the back of the house.

Breakfast is not included but a self catering kitchen means you can prepare your own meals or eat out at some of the great local cafes.

We have heaps of off street car parking so you can be guaranteed somewhere to park your car or store your bike.

If you are looking for somewhere comfortable & friendly to stay away from the rush of downtown, where the air is clean and you can get a good night\'s sleep but close (2.5 km to city centre) to all Auckland has to offer then you are in the right place. We are on a bus route into the city ($1.20 fare) or it is approx-30 minutes walk.

Location:

Bamber House is a large two storied house built about 1910. It is set in spacious grounds on the slopes of Mt Eden.

Rooms:

You can choose from single, double & twin rooms (standard or economy) or shared rooms with 3-6 people in them. The standard rooms have mainly queen size beds are upstairs inside the house while the economy rooms are downstairs or in cabins at the back of the house.

Services:

Shared facilities including bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, games room, TV lounge (with Sky TV) as well as a garden BBQ area and a smoking area outside (sorry no smoking inside the house).

A STD phone, fax service and 24 hour Internet ($4/hour) are available for sending and receiving Email as well as surfing or whatever.

Our office is open from 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 9.00pm. The phone is answered from 7.00am to 10.00pm and we may be able to accommodate arrivals outside office hours if you let us know when you make the booking. Our normal check in time is 1.00 pm but if you are arriving earlier than that we will do our best to have your room ready as quickly as possible.

Activities:

Or if you are feeling energetic there are tennis courts across the road, lots of walks and cycling tracks and a heated swimming pool 5 minutes walk away. A short bus ride will take you to downtown Auckland. If you have a car the choices are endless. Whatever you want to do Mt Eden has a whole heap to keep you happy.

Area:

Mt Eden is a very special part of Auckland. It is full of historic & character homes, fun shops, cafes, restaurants and local people. Many of Auckland\'s finest artists, actors, musicians and writers choose to live here creating a friendly community spirit and a slightly bohemian atmosphere.
